Restive partnered with Tyro to deliver seamless digital experiences across both hospitality and banking. Beyond delivering platforms, we helped the client build an end-to-end capability across web, mobile, and back-end. By bringing in the right technologies, strategy, and team structures, we not only delivered immediate solutions but also embedded lasting capability within Tyro’s own teams.

From integrating POS and inventory systems with table-ordering solutions, to launching a new web banking platform in under six months, our work has broadened customer reach, improved usability, and created a foundation for sustainable digital growth.

The problem

Tyro wanted to improve the digital experiences it offered to both its hospitality and banking customers.

  • In banking, while the provider already had a mobile app, research showed that nearly half of its customers preferred to manage their accounts via desktop, leaving a large customer segment underserved.

  • In hospitality, venues needed a simple way to enable customers to order and pay directly from their table, but legacy POS and stock systems were not integrated.

Beyond this, Tyro also lacked the right team structures to deliver and maintain these solutions. They didn’t have the in-house web developers or integration specialists needed to keep platforms in sync. Both challenges required not only scalable, secure solutions that could be delivered quickly, but also a stronger technology strategy, team capability, and foundation for ongoing innovation.

Project 1: Web banking platform

To address the gap in customer preferences, we designed and delivered a responsive, content-rich web banking platform in under six months.

    • Replicated the core mobile app features (accounts, loans, term deposits) in a desktop-first experience.

    • Extended functionality beyond the app to allow for future service growth.

    • Designed a component-based system, improved security with Auth0 tokenisation, and implemented clean, test-driven development practices.

    • Brought in the right technologies, integration approach, and engineering practices to ensure the platform was scalable and sustainable.

Capabilities provided: Team leadership, solution design and architecture, Web BFF API schemas, security design, component design systems, front-end engineering.

Project 2: Table ordering integration

We partnered with the provider to integrate its back-end and POS systems with a new mobile ordering platform, enabling a seamless customer experience.

    • Integrated food menus, stock levels, and pricing directly into the app.

    • Enabled mobile ordering and multiple payment options.

    • Delivered a consistent, reliable experience for both customers and venues.

    • Built the integration capability into the provider’s own team, embedding modern technologies and practices to sustain and evolve the platform.

Capabilities provided: Technical leadership, front-end and mobile development, Android development, DevOps and microservices, design systems.
